AI companies bill differently than everyone else. A traditional SaaS product sells seats. An AI product sells tokens, prompts, GPU-seconds, and outcomes: usage that shifts by the week as models and pricing evolve. We started MeterBox because the tooling to handle that didn't exist as one platform, and we'd felt the gap firsthand.
We're a team of payments engineers, people who spent years building billing and monetization infrastructure at tech companies like Google. When we started helping AI companies figure out how to charge for their products, we kept hitting the same wall: there was no single platform that handled the whole thing end-to-end.
Every team ended up duct-taping together the same handful of tools: Stripe for payment processing, a metering tool to track usage, a separate entitlements system to gate access, and a spreadsheet (or three) to define plans and cost structures, plus a pile of custom glue code to keep it all in sync. Every new pricing idea meant touching all of it again.
We built MeterBox so that work only has to happen once. Define your AI offering (pricing, metering, entitlements) through a guided onboarding wizard, then iterate on it: A/B test plans and price points, and wire up both inbound and outbound integrations without rebuilding your billing stack every time your pricing model changes.
Usage-based pricing for AI isn't a checkbox feature bolted onto seat-based billing. It's a different discipline, and it deserves a platform built around it from the start. That's the bet behind MeterBox: metering, entitlements, credits, and billing as one system you configure once and keep evolving, not five systems you keep reconciling.
We'd love to hear what you're building. Start free or reach us at contact@meterbox.ai.
